SoWright Theater Company is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded on February 7, 2023, by Sabrina Wright. The organization is committed to providing high-quality arts education to inner-city youth and adults while promoting social awareness through professional theatrical productions, educational programming, and community collaboration.
The journey of SoWright Theater Company began in 2009 under its original entity, SoWright Productions, LLC, when founder Sabrina Wright brought together a collective of passionate artists to create meaningful platforms for storytelling, performance, and education. Over more than a decade, the organization produced numerous stage plays, workshops, and community events across Central Arkansas, earning a strong reputation for artistic excellence and impactful programming.
From 2009 through 2023, SoWright’s productions engaged hundreds of youth and adults, partnering with schools, colleges, churches, fraternities, community organizations, and workforce development programs such as Job Corp. Performances were staged in respected venues including Argenta Community Theater, Philander Smith College, The Repertory Theatre, and multiple community centers and churches throughout Little Rock, North Little Rock, Stuttgart, and Conway.
SoWright Theater Company’s work addresses real-world issues such as self-worth, family structure, justice involvement, relationships, faith, and personal growth—using theater as a tool for education, healing, and empowerment. In addition to artistic impact, the organization has supported community relief efforts, including fundraising for tornado recovery in North Little Rock.
In 2023, SoWright Productions, LLC formally transitioned into SoWright Theater Company to expand its community impact through nonprofit programming. This strategic restructuring allows SoWright Theater Company to focus exclusively on live theater, arts education, and cultural development, while its sister entity continues film production and adaptation.
Today, SoWright Theater Company stands as a driving force in the local arts ecosystem—fostering collaboration, promoting diversity and inclusion, nurturing emerging artists, and elevating cultural engagement. With a proven history of community partnerships and impactful productions, the organization is positioned for continued growth, deeper outreach, and expanded service to underserved populations.
